Madina Chenge

Madina Chenge is a Partner and Deputy Head of the Banking and Finance department at IMMMA Advocates. In this capacity, Madina is involved in several of the major banking and finance transactions on which the firm is engaged to give advice, including acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures and sale and supply arrangements.

Madina is also often involved in advisory assignments regarding electronic communication and competition issues in Tanzania, including regulatory compliance, merger applications, fair practices by regulators, issues concerning abuse of position of dominance and consumer protection laws.

Experience has included advising:

• Both local and international lenders in a USD75 million secured syndicated lending to a prominent sugar manufacturer in Tanzania
• An international bank in a USD20 million secured lending for construction and development of a mine in Tanzania
• A pan-African development bank in a USD12 million lending for the development of hydro and wind power plants to be secured against the plants
• An international bank in a USD24 million lending to a Tanzania-based underground mining company to be secured against assets located in Tanzania
• The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) in relation to a loan guaranty facility for small- and medium-sized agribusinesses in Tanzania to be made available to two local banks
• OPIC in a USD32 million secured lending to a Tanzania logistic company
• An international hotel chain in the acquisition of hotels in Tanzania
• Rakgas Tanzania Limited on negotiations of a product sharing agreement with the Tanzanian government through TPDC
