Sumbo heads the Aluko & Oyebode’s Telecommunications, Media, Entertainment and Technology (“TMET”) Practice and has advised multi-national companies on various aspects of the law in the TMET space. She has advised on various regulations in the TMET sector pertaining to data protection/privacy, competition laws, licenses/permits, collaborations, corporate restructurings, divestitures, investments and equity injections.

  • She is heads the team that provides support to MTN Nigeria Communications Ltd, the largest telecommunications company in Nigeria. The areas of support to MTN include legal / regulatory support in connection with raising finance for the company from 2006 to date, advising on various regulatory compliance issues and advising on the expansion of its operations from core telecommunications to other converge businesses
  • She recently advised a number of European based corporation in connection with the proposed Nigerian Digital Switchover.  In this regard, she has advised on broadcasting licensing requirements and the regulations in respect of the marketing of Set Top Boxes; digital switchover, and the provision of conditional access technologies for pay-tv to a Nigerian company.
  • She advises social networking platforms in respect of data & privacy related matters.
  • She represents a number of American multinational technology companies and search engines on the legal/ regulatory issues in respect of hardware and software; legal /regulatory issues impacting on the service offering in Nigeria; and matters relating to data, privacy and consumer rights.
