Etido David is a Senior Associate in Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Equity, Mining, Competition and General Corporate Advisory teams. He advises domestic and international investors, private equity funds, venture capital firms, fintechs, multinationals and governments on high-value transactions spanning private equity, mergers and acquisitions, investment structuring, regulatory compliance and competition law.

Etido has played key roles in several landmark transactions and advised on major horizontal mergers in the manufacturing and financial services sectors, multimillion-dollar venture capital investments into Nigerian fintech companies, data centre acquisitions requiring FCCPC approval, and complex cross-border telecoms acquisitions. He routinely leads due diligence, negotiates definitive transaction documents, and coordinates regulatory approvals for both local and offshore transactions.

Etido is a thought leader on Nigerian investment and corporate law, and a frequent speaker at technology, startup and finance forums. His professional excellence has earned him the ESQ 40 Under 40 Rising Star Award (2022) and a 2024 NBA-YLF Rising Star Nomination for Corporate Governance. In 2018, he co-founded the Greenridge Foundation, Nigeria’s first corporate pro-bono organisation, to deliver pro-bono corporate advisory services to small businesses across Nigeria. Etido also served on the Nigerian Bar Association Remuneration Committee, where he led the sub-committee on salary and wages, contributing to policy development for lawyers’ welfare nationwide.

  • Advised CardinalStone Capital Advisers Limited (as lead investor) and five additional investors including (BII, Norfund, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, EDFI MC, and All On) with respect to the Series B investment round in Arnergy Mauritius Limited ("Target”), an entity that operates in the renewable energy space through its Nigerian subsidiary Arnergy Solar Limited. Jurisdictions involved: Mauritius, USA.
  • Advised Old Mutual Private Equity’s acquisition of a majority shareholding in Honoris United Universities, the holding company of Nile University Nigeria.
  • Advised PZ Cussons PLC on the sale of its 50% stake in PZ Wilmar Limited to Wilmar International Limited.
  • Advised Verod Capital Management Limited on the merger between Tangerine Life Insurance Limited and ARM Life PLC and on its acquisitions of AXA Mansard Pension Limited and APT Pension Funds Managers Limited, and the subsequent merger of the two pension fund administrators.
  • Advised GlaxoSmithKline PLC’s winding down of its operations in Nigeria through a scheme of arrangement involving, among other things: partial forgiveness of the debt owed by GlaxoSmithKline Consumer (Nigeria) PLC to GSK; the delisting of the shares of GSK Nigeria from the Nigerian Exchange (NGX); capital return to the shareholders of the GSK Nigeria with respect to Q1, 2024; and dissolution of GSK Nigeria.
