Jacqueline is a Partner with over 17 years’ experience and heads the firm’s Corporate Advisory Department. She focuses her practice on employment and benefits, corporate matters, data protection and privacy, regulatory compliance, tax, restructuring and insolvency, agribusiness, public procurement and outsourcing, and trusts and charities.

Jacqueline is a renowned corporate legal advisor with respect to employment and tax-related matters. She was one of the lead consultants on the team which advised on the tax restructuring for the 34-megawatt solar PV project. She has also advised employers and senior management on the implications of the changes introduced in the Employment Code Act and recommended actions to be taken based on the changes.

Jacqueline has also led teams on a wide range of commercial transactions, corporate regulatory compliance projects and tax law advisory projects for the firm’s local and international client base.

She recently advised The Coca Cola Company (“TCCC”) that was looking to restructure its shareholding in Coca Cola Beverages Africa (“CCBA”). This was a group restructuring matter which involved a transfer of shares between two entities within the TCCC group, Atlantic Industries (the holder of the shares in CCBA) to European Refreshments (the intended recipient of the shares). Noting the transfer of shares within the group, Coca Cola Beverages Zambia Limited (“CCBZ”) wanted to know the tax implications in Zambia following the indirect transfer of shares.

Jacqueline is currently advising the United States Government, through the Millennium Challenge Corporation, with respect to the development of the second Millennium Challenge Compact with the Republic of Zambia, which focuses on strengthening investments in the agricultural sector to further create opportunities for inclusive economic growth.

She also recently represented a client in the broadcasting industry (CONFIDENTIAL MATTER) in a matter involving a transfer pricing audit conducted by the Zambia Revenue Authority, which could possibly see the client paying principal tax and penalties in the sum of ZMW 1,674,390,755 (approximately USD 89,889,668).

Jacqueline an IFLR1000 and Legal500 ranked attorney, is a regular contributor to the World Bank’s flagship programme, Doing Business and champions thought leadership publications in her area of practice for the firm’s clients.

Jacqueline holds a master’s degree in taxation law from the University of South Africa, an LLB from the University of Zambia and a Diploma in Legislative Drafting from the Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education. She is an Advocate of the Superior Courts of Zambia, a member of the International Bar Association and Law Association of Zambia.
