Namakuzu heads the firm’s Energy, Resources and Infrastructure Department and specializes in the mining, real estate, and construction sectors and plays a central role in Corpus’ large portfolio of mining matters. She advises local and international clients on mining and energy law projects, conveyances, lease agreements, construction and infrastructure contracts, agreements and registering of securities for financing in the real estate sector.

Namakuzu has 16 years’ experience and with significant experience pertaining to the construction, operation, and financing of projects in the renewables sector over the past few years, having advised on Zambia’s pioneering solar and wind projects. She has also led deal teams advising clients on their operations in Zambia, including licensing, mining, rights, joint ventures, mergers, real estate and acquisitions among others.

Her experience in the real estate sector has enabled her to advise on major projects for clients which include being lead advisor to Bicon Zambia Limited on the sale of land to National Pension Scheme Authority valued at USD 2,370,000 and completed within 7 months.

Namakuzu was also lead advisor to UFF African Agri Investment on the sale of four (4) pieces of land to Pluto Pearls Limited valued at USD 2,920,000 and completed within 1 year 5 months as well as advisor to L.C.M Limited for the sale of 2 subdivisions to Agro Fuel Investments valued at USD 900,000 and completed within 4 months.

Namakuzu an IFLR1000, as a ‘Rising Star’ with respect to Energy & Infrastructure, Mergers and Acquisitions by the IFLR1000, is a regular contributor to the World Bank’s flagship programme, Doing Business and champions thought leadership publications in her area of practice for the firm’s clients. She was recently recognised as a valuable contributor to the World Bank’s Women, Business, and the Law 2023 research efforts.

Namakuzu holds an LLB from the University of Zambia and is an Advocate of the Superior Courts of Zambia. She is a member of the International Bar Association and Law Association of Zambia.

  • Advised Zhejiang International Engineering Construction Company Zambia Limited in partnership with Avic International Project Engineering Company Limited in relation to the construction of a road from Kolwezi to Sakabinda in the Democratic Republic of Congo and from Sakabinda to Lumwana in Zambia as well as the construction of a border post at Sakabinda on a Build Operate and Transfer (BOT)/ PPP approach.
  • Advised a syndicate of lenders including the African Development Bank, Development Bank of Southern Africa, and Proparco in relation to the US$ 142 million project financing of the proposed construction, operation, and maintenance of the 120 MW Build Own Operate and Transfer (BOOT) ITezhi-Tezhi Hydro Power and Transmission Line Project.
  • Advised BayWar.e. Solar Projects GmbH (BayWa) on the review of the EPC Contract for the construction and commission of a 1MW solar plant in Zambia.
  • Advised Wuhuan Engineering Company Limited an international engineering consulting, design and contracting enterprise of chemical petro-chemical and medical industries, with respect to the proposed 51 percent acquisition of EMCO Mining Company and EMCO Energy Zambia Limited.
