Ike Oguine is highly regarded as one of the leading oil and gas lawyers in Nigeria. Before founding ADVISORY, he was Chevron’s General Counsel for its Nigeria and Mid-Africa Business Units. He has also served as Coordinator, Legal Services at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

  • Advised ConocoPhillips on the US$1.5 billion sale of all its Nigerian upstream oil and gas business to Oando Energy Resources and on its exit from the Brass LNG Project.
  • Advised the West African Gas Pipeline Company on the Western Interconnection to the West African Gas Pipeline (“WAGP”), which has achieved the reverse-flow of gas in the pipeline and has transformed WAGP into a bi-directional pipeline system. The interplay between the domestic and international law issues and their bearing on risk allocation in the project agreements, is particularly noteworthy.
  • Advising project sponsor on the equity and debt financing of a US$3.5bn petrochemical complex.
  • Advising a pioneer domestic LNG producer and operator of a virtual pipeline network in Nigeria on the supply of re-gasified LNG to a power plant in the Northern Nigeria.
  • Advising an IOC on renegotiating its project funding structure with the national oil company for capital cost recovery and operational expenditure for one of the largest existing gas processing plants in Nigeria.
