CK Asset Holdings £2.7 billion acquisition of Greene King

Overview:

• CK Asset Holdings has agreed to acquire Greene King in a deal that values the company at £2.7 billion.
• Greene King's shareholders will receive £8.50 in cash for each share under the terms of the deal.
• Greene King is a brewer and pub operator that brews beers such as Old Speckled Hen and Greene King IPA. It also owns the Chef & Brewer and Hungry Horse chains.
• CK currently owns 3% of the company that posted a 1.6% rise in annual adjusted profit before tax in the latest report in June.
• CK is a Hong Kong based property developer.
• The deal follows similar moves in the UK pub market during the first half of 2019. In recent months Stonegate acquired Ei Group, while Asahi Group acquired the UK brewing business of Fuller Smith & Turner.
