Overview:

UK energy company's npower and SSE are planning to merge.
The combined business will be listed on the LSE and will be the UK's second largest energy company.
Npower is controlled by German utility Innogy, which will own 34.4% stake in the new business.
Goldman Sachs acted as financial adviser to Innogy; Credit Suisse advised SSE.
