Global fim White & Case has announced that it is to open its first office in Cairo, in association with newly established firm MHR & Partners.

This will be the firm's second office in Africa, complimenting its South African office in Johannesurg as well as three other locations across the MENA region.

Led by London based partner Philip Stopford, the newly formed office will draw from some of the country's existing resources, including Walid El Daly, previously partner at local firm Zaki Hashem & Partners, former general counsel at Orascom Development Holding, Said Hanafi, and Tarek Mohanna and Sherief Rashed who have relocated from London and Abu Dhabi to join the team.

The team will specialise in finance, corporate M&A and private equity work, as well as in debt and equity capital markets.
