Weil Gotshal & Manges has hired a new private equity partner in Hong Kong to add to its transactional practice in Asia.

Tim Gardner joins the firm from Latham & Watkins where he advised prominent private equity and global asset management firms.

Speaking with IFLR1000, Weil’s Asia managing partner Akiko Mikumo said of the hire: "Our strategy in Asia and globally is to represent private equity funds and expansion in this area is in line with that. We're always interested in expanding and Gardner's hire lined up nicely with our strategy at the present time."

Before joining Latham & Watkins in 2006, Gardner worked in investment banking first as an associate and then as vice president at Goldman Sachs in New York, where he focused on M&A.

Weil’s Asian practice focuses on transactional corporate and private equity work across China, India, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, South-East Asia and Australasia.
