Morrison & Foerster (MoFo) has hired a new partner in Hong Kong to add to its funds formation team.

Jason Nelms joins the firm from Proskauer Rose, where he was a New York-based associate.

Funds expert Nelms is focused on the structuring, formation and offering of private investment funds such as real estate funds, private equity funds, hedge funds and co-investment vehicles.

Prior to Proskauer, he had worked in the New York and Hong Kong offices of Weil Gotshal & Manges, and was an associate at Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson.

Earlier this year MoFo lost Hong Kong corporate partner Melody He-Chen to DLA Piper, and capital markets specialist Gregory Wang to Reed Smith.

The US firm has 40 lawyers—including 11 partners—in Hong Kong and 990 lawyers across 17 offices globally.
