King & Spalding have hired two finance partners from Ropes & Gray.

Mark Wesseldine and Fergus Wheeler both join the US firm in London

Wesseldine focuses on leveraged financings and restructurings. Before joining Ropes & Gray he had been a partner at both Fried Frank and Allen & Overy.

Recent work includes work for KKR Credit Advisors on a €200 milion private unitranche financing for Dentix Health Corporation, and work for for Park Square Capital on a private placement of second lien notes linked to the acquisition of Foncia by Partners Group.

Wheeler acts for private credit funds and alternative credit providers on finance matters. He had previously worked at A&L Goodbody and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

His recent work includes acting for EQT Credit as unitranche lender on the financing of Lion Capital’s acquisition of Grenade.

The move also comes shortly after Ropes lost Chris McGarry to White & Case.
