Jones Day have confirmed the appointment of a new partner in their Spanish office from Latham & Watkins, a move that will improve the project finance arm of the firm and help it to achieve desired targets in the Latin American markets.

Joining Jones Day in April, Javier López Antón brings with him a host of experience and clients from previous tenures. In 2012 Anton spent a year heading up the Mexico City office for DLA Piper before heading back to Madrid to work with Latham & Watkins, and as such has an extensive knowledge of the markets in Mexico and Latin America.

In a recent interview with IFLR1000, Anton cited philosophical similarities as the main justification behind the move, claiming that his previous role was not the right platform for the work he wanted to be involved with at this stage in his career. Anton continued to say that Jones Day has specific targets within the Latin American market, are looking to expand in the area, and that his specific experience and background makes the appointment a positive move for everyone involved.
