Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) has hired an experienced banking and finance partner from K&L Gates in Frankfurt.

Julia Müller, a dual qualified English and German lawyer, spent 10 years at White & Case before joining K&L Gates as partner in 2012. She advises on a range of cross border and domestic lending, from the more standard structures such as bilateral and syndicated loans to high-yield and project finance, but her speciality is acquisition financing.

K&L Gates associate Andrey Latyshev is also making the switch to HSF.

Müller, who will be HSF's first female partner in Germany (an accolade she holds for K&L Gates), is the eighth partner it has hired in the country since launching in Frankfurt in April 2013.

Last year, the firm, which now also has a branch in Berlin, recruited four partners in Germany. Freshfields corporate and energy specialist, Dick Hammann; Taylor Wessing competition partner Michael Dietrich; finance lawyer Kai Liebrich from Mayer Brown; and, Baker & McKenzie litigator Mathias Wittinghofer.
