Herbert Smith Freehills has recruited two new partners in South Africa who were both practice heads at rival international firms in Johannesburg.

Ross Lomax was hired from Norton Rose Fulbright where he was head of corporate and M&A. He is an IFLR1000 Leading Lawyer focusing on the mining and renewable energy sectors.

Nick Altini joins the firm from Baker McKenzie where he was head of the South African competition practice. He is an IFLR1000 Leading Lawyer experienced in advising in the advertising, airline, entertainment and gaming sectors.

Herbert Smith Freehills' Johannesburg office now has seven partners.
