The Estonian office of pan-Baltic firm Primus has agreed to join the team at Ellex, creating the largest practice in the country.

Once completed, partners Gerli Kilusk, Anton Sigal and Ermo Kosk will - along with 18 other lawyers - join the existing nine partners at Ellex to create an office with a total lawyer headcount of 60.

The merger is scheduled to go ahead on January 1 2018, with the subsequent merged firm to operate under the Raidla Ellex brand currently used by the Estonian office of Ellex.

It is the second significant merger by Ellex this year, having absorbed the Latvian arm of Glimstedt in January 2017. The firm now has the largest combined practice in the region, with 200 lawyers and 288 staff overall.

After a relative lull 2017, this is the latest change in what has been a tumultuous few years in the Baltic legal market that saw several moves in September 2016 and April 2016, the latter of which included the merger of the Estonian and Latvian offices of Primus with the former Lithuanian office of Varul.
