Global firm DLA Piper has continued to push its way into the South African legal market with another round of hires, this time bolstering its financial and corporate teams.

The firm has appointed a five strong corporate and commercial team from Linklaters relationship firm Webber Wentzel, the latest in a string of high profile departures from the firm.

Heading up the DLA Piper corporate team as partner will be Peter Bradshaw, who specialises in private and public M&A, capital markets and securities regulation as well as general commercial law. Bradshaw will be joined by directors Marita van der Walt and Nada van Dyk, and associates Rakhee Singh and Amy Eliason

Joining the banking and finance team as partner from Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr is debt finance focussed Jackie Pennington. This lateral move is particularly interesting as Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr and and DLA Piper recently ended an alliance in the country. Also making the same journey are senior associates Nick Goldberg and Pridi Jani

DLA Piper appointed ex-Webber Wentzel corporate partner Johannes Gouws as managing partner in May 2016.
