Dentons has recruited Cuatrecasas Gonçalves Pereira's head of banking to lead its Madrid banking practice.

Jesús Mardomingo has a wealth of experience advising financial services companies, and will bring with him a number of clients.

An appointment of Mardomingo’s status by Dentons, a relatively young firm within the Spanish market, shows a real push for growth within the banking sector and is a clear statement of intent.

When questioned about the expansion of Dentons within Spain, Mardomingo said that "the idea is to grow dramatically within the next few months". To further substantiate this Dentons has made a number of other strategic moves in Spain over the last 18 months, including the hire of Antonio Alcolea as head of public policy and Jesús Durán as head of the regulatory and private equity practices.

In a recent interview with IFLR1000 Mardomingo claimed the move was a good one for his clients, specifically citing the wider comparative global reach of Dentons, significantly increased by a recent merger with Chinese firm Dacheng Law Offices, as a primary driver of the move.

Mardomingo's previous roles include in-house legal counsel for both BBVA and Corporación Bancaria de España.
