The law firms DELACOUR and DLA Piper Denmark will integrate on 29 August 2018. This will place DLA Piper among the major players on the legal services market in Denmark. The agreement to integrate was concluded on 28 June 2018 and was adopted unanimously by the partners of DELACOUR and DLA Piper at extraordinary general meetings held yesterday. The integration is a stepping stone to realising DLA Piper’s ambition to become one of Denmark’s strongest law firms.

The catalyst for enhancing the position is a desire to advise clients in the best possible way about the varied and complex challenges they face - whether they are large or small enterprises.

"We are now in a position to develop an even more specialised advisory environment within key practice areas, such as M&A, real estate and restructuring. Our clients will benefit, as we will bolster both the breadth and depth of the legal services we can provide to the Danish business sector", says Martin Lavesen, Managing Partner in DLA Piper Denmark.

Local focus and the capability to provide high-quality advisory services to Danish enterprises is one decisive factor for a law firm of today; other essential factors are global delivery capacity and access to strong driving forces.

"Being part of a global organisation with 4,500 lawyers gives us not only delivery capacity that transcends borders, but also access to knowledge and the development of digital solutions. This combination lends us an incredibly strong platform and a unique position in the market", says Martin Lavesen.

The integration under the DLA Piper brand will be visible to clients and business partners from day one, and the coming weeks will see the implementation of the carefully devised and comprehensive plan to fuse the two firms together.

Following the integration, DLA Piper Denmark will have 380 staff members, including 220 lawyers, located at its offices in Copenhagen and Aarhus. The combined law firm will significantly enhance its position in the Danish market and expects an increase in revenue in
2018 by up to 30%. Globally, with its 4,500 lawyers located in more than 40 countries, DLA Piper is among the three largest law firms in the world.
