Deacons has bolstered its corporate finance practice with the hire of an experienced capital markets practitioner as partner.

Peter Cheng joins Deacons from Davis Polk where he previously served as counsel.

Ronny Chow, co-head of Deacons’ corporate finance practice group, remarked: “We are delighted to welcome Peter to Deacons, he has significant ECM experience and a strong track record of advising on complex and high profile deals, such as China Literature’s IPO, which will add to the strength and depth of our corporate finance practice.”

Cheng has significant experience in the Hong Kong equity capital markets and has advised on various matters such as IPOs, compliance with Hong Kong listing rules, M&A and private equity investments.

The latest move sees the firm position itself to catch the windfall of a buoyant IPO market in Hong Kong as investor appetite for small, medium-sized and new economy companies is expected to continue.
