Magic circle law firm Allen & Overy has strengthened its Greater China capital markets practice with a dual partner hire.

Lina Lee and Jonathan Hsui join the firm from Ashurst's Hong Kong office where they worked together over eight years advising large financial institutions and corporate clients on equity capital market related transactions, including IPOs, block trades, rights issues, and M&A matters.

Richard Browne, global corporate co-head, said: "We are seeing increasing demand from Chinese corporates for equity capital markets legal advice as they continue to expand into global markets. The appointments of Lina and Jonathan are part of our long-term global strategy to grow our capital markets platform, which serves the world’s largest companies doing business across multiple jurisdictions."

Lee has been partner at Ashurst from 2009 where she focused on Hong Kong equity listings and other ECM products on top of M&A deals.

Hsui was appointed partner at Ashurst in 2013. He advises investment banking and corporate clients on ECM and M&A transactions, and has worked as in-house legal counsel for BNP Paribas.
