Start-up Agram Legal Consultants has hired a new M&A partner to add to its pure play corporate boutique.

M&A partner Sudipta Routh arrives from Luthra & Luthra, a firm he joined in 2010 to help kick start its M&A department and diversify its finance practice.

Routh was formerly an M&A partner at Trilegal in 2001 until he relocated to study banking and finance law at Queen Mary University of London before joining Clifford Chance in 2006. He then left Clifford Chance in 2009 and joined Luthra & Luthra as an M&A partner in 2010.

Agram Legal Consultants is a start-up formed by former Khaitan & Co equity partner Vaishali Sharma in 2014.

Luthra & Luthra also recently lost litigator Ashish Prasad who joined rival Economic Laws Practice (ELP). Last year the firm lost homegrown Mumbai partner Shishir Vayttaden to the former Amarchand Mangaldas, a firm which has now split to form Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas since April, following the resolution of a court dispute between the two managing partners Shardul and Cyril Shroff.

Routh is the third partner-level loss for Luthra & Luthra in the past year.
