White & Case has hired a new private equity (PE) partner in London.

Mike Weir joins the firm from Jones Day and advises PE sponsors on public takeovers, domestic and cross-border M&A, corporate reorganisations, joint ventures and real estate M&A.

One of his largest deals in recent times was work on Concordia Healthcare's $3.5 billion acquisition of Amdipharm Mercury where he advised the management of Amdipharm Mercury.

Before joining Jones Day in 2013 Weir had been a partner at Berwin Leighton Paisner.

The move is the latest in a series of departures from Jones Day in London which also includes structured finance and securitisation partner Neil Hamilton joining CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang, banking partner Paul Simcock joining Vinson & Elkins, M&A partner Dan Coppel joining Morrison & Foerster and regulatory partner John Ahern joining Katten Muchin Rosenman.

The hire is the second M&A partner White & Case has added to its team in London in the last six months following the addition of Dominic Ross from Ashurst.
