South East Asian regional law firm Tilleke & Gibbins has opened a new office in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The firm previously opened offices in Thailand, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam - the Cambodian opening becomes its sixth in its march across the Asean region.

It made the move in anticipation of the upcoming launch of the Asean Economic Community (AEC) at the end of this year, aiming to have a fair share of the more unified market.

The new Cambodian office is staffed with a team of local Khmer advisors. The team will advise clients on intellectual property rights in the jurisdiction, including licensing and regulatory issues in sectors such as chemicals, food and agribusiness, franchising, life sciences, and technology.
