Leading Baltic law firm TGS Baltic, having presented new Managing Partner Vilnius Bernatonis and Executive Partner Marius Matonis in its Lithuanian office in September, has reformed its corporate structure and created a new team to lead its structural units. From now on, the law firm will organise its activities focusing on 9 main market industries to be led by the relevant experts.

“Almost a year ago, we took the decision to organise the management of firm according to the principles of a business company with institutions and processes characteristic of a business. First, we agreed among the partners that the head would be re-elected every four years, that teams of lawyers would be formed from experts with different competences, able to look with fresh eyes at business problems. Starting in October, the internal units of our law firm shall be formed according to the main areas of business. The units pool experts who have experience working with clients in a specific industry in different fields of law”, explains Vilius Bernatonis, Managing Partner of TGS Baltic.

Bernatonis adds that the concept of the new structure follows client expectations: “Clients expect professional legal knowledge, but also that we will think like their business colleagues and partners, interested in their commercial success, knowing the market, processes, and relevant decision-makers at the institutional level. It is not enough for us to be experts in commercial law, we must also become legal consultants for specific industries.”

The new structure at TGS Baltic consists of 9 industry groups. They cover all major sectors of the Lithuanian and regional economy: energy, finance, production, life sciences, technology, retail and wholesale, property development and investments, private equity funds and transport.

Recognised experts in their fields of law have been appointed as heads of each industry group. The energy team will be headed by managing partner Vilius Bernatonis. The finance team will be headed by associate partner Ieva Dosinaitė, the team covering the production industry by partner Vidmantas Drizga as an expert in capital markets, the life sciences team (medicine, pharmacy, food regulation and biotechnologies) by senior partner Eugenija Sutkienė, the technologies team (information technologies, telecommunications and mass media) by partner Mindaugas Civilka as a data protection expert, the retail and wholesale team by partner, dispute resolution and competition law expert Dr. Lina Darulienė, the property development and investments team by partner Dainius Stasiulis, the private equity funds team by associate partner Aurimas Pauliukevičius, and the transport team by partner Gytis Kaminskas. The heads of these industry-based groups will be responsible for client care, and the improvement of multi-disciplinary competences. Executive Partner Marius Matonis will be responsible for the quality of services.

The specialist legal groups in the firm will remain and consist of dispute resolution, corporate law, real estate and transactions and regulatory law. The dispute resolution group will be headed by partner Prof. Habil. Dr. Valentinas Mikelėnas, the corporate law group by partner Agnius Pilipavičius, the real estate and transactions group by partner Dalia Tamašauskaitė-Žilienė, and the regulatory law group by partner Dr. Lauras Butkevičius.
