Simmons & Simmons has added a new structured finance and securitisation partner to its London team.

Amer Siddiqui joins the firm from a senior associate position at Clifford Chance. His focus is on mortgage backed securitisations, covered bonds, asset warehousing and other ABS structures.

Recent experience includes advising Southern Water Services and Yorkshire Water Services on whole business utility securitisations; advising AVR Afvalverwerking on the establishment of a multi-source secured funding platform; and work on the bond financing of the Intu Metrocentre in Gateshead.

In addition he has acted on RMBS matters for the likes of Skipton Building Society, the Co-operative Bank, Leeds Building Society, Allied Irish Bank, Paragon Mortgages and Commercial First Mortgages; and advised on the establishment of covered bond programmes for the likes of Barclays, Clydesdale Bank and the Co-operative Bank.

Siddiqui is qualified in England and Wales, New York and India.

The deal is the latest in a series of capital markets and finance hires the firm has made in London this year including the addition of capital markets lawyersSimon Ovenden from Cleary Gottlieb and Jonathan Mellor from Allen & Overy; and the hires of investment funds lawyer Cindy Valentine and banking and funds lawyer Jen Yee Chan from King & Wood Mallesons.
