Simmons & Simmons has hired Barclay's global legal head of M&A in London.

Khasruz Zaman has joined the firm's corporate and commercial team. He focuses on banking and M&A transactions.

Zaman started his career at Slaughter and May before moving on to Hogan Lovells.

While at Barclays he acted on the bank's acquisitions of Standard Life Bank, Goldfish, Egg, and ING Direct UK and on the proposed merger with ABN Amro. He also advised on the bank's sale of its Spanish, UAE and Indian divisions and on various capital raising exercises.

Other recent staffing changes at Simmons & Simmons in London include the hire of trade finance lawyer Omar Al-Ali from Linklaters; the addition of finance lawyer Simon Thrower from Ashurst; the capture of equity capital markets partner Patrick Graves from Osborne Clarke; the hire of corporate lawyer Jocelyn Ormond from DAC Beachcroft; and the departure of banking partner Richard Hughes who moved to Norton Rose Fulbright.
