Norton Rose Fulbright has hired a senior M&A partner in Sydney to add to its growing practice in the city.

John Elliott joins the firm from independent Clayton Utz where he chalked up over 25 years’ experience in corporate transactions.

Wayne Spanner, managing partner of Norton Rose Fulbright in Australia said of the hire: "We are thrilled that someone of John’s seniority and pedigree in the M&A space has agreed to join our business. His years of experience leading an M&A and equity capital markets practice, together with an industry focus that dovetails with our global sector approach, will make for a strong addition to our team."

Elliott’s expertise includes acting in bid and defence roles for public listed company takeovers, majority shareholder sell-downs and schemes of arrangement. He has advised domestic and international clients across many industries, but with a particular focus on energy, resources and the financial services sectors.

Elliott’s hire is the seventh lateral one for Norton Rose Fulbright in Australia in the past year. The other six were partners Keira Brennan, Ray Giblett, Helene Lee, Adrienne Parker, Hazel Brasington and Dale Rayner.
