Mayer Brown JSM has added a new partner in Hong Kong to boost its corporate and securities practice.

Nicholas Chan joins the firm from Sidley Austin where he was a partner in its corporate finance group.

Jacqueline Chiu, Mayer Brown JSM’s corporate and securities partner, said: “Nicholas’ knowledge of Hong Kong’s IPO market and other corporate finance products is…expected to enhance our recent association with Jingtian & Gongcheng, a leading Chinese firm in connection with capital markets practice transactions for issuers from mainland China.”

Chan is focused on corporate finance transactions, including IPOs and general compliance work. He has experience acting for issuers and underwriters on listings on the HKSE, and has also advised listed companies on a range of transactional matters.

Chan obtained his bachelor and postgraduate certificate in laws from the University of Hong Kong. He was elected to Sidley Austin’s partnership alongside three other lawyers in December 2014.
