Starting with Canada this week, Aurora Cannabis is set to acquire MedReleaf in a C$3.2 billion deal.

Cadence Bancorp has announced a $1.4 billion acquisition of State Bank Financial. The merged company will have $16 billion in assets, $12 billion in loans and $13 billion in deposits.
Citigroup Global Markets has issued $2.6 billion in senior notes. The issue consisted of $1.25 billion 4.044% callable notes due 2024, $1 billion floating rate notes due 2024, and $350 million 4.45% senior notes due 2027.

One of America’s largest utilities PPL has launched a common stock offering which could raise as much as $1.7 billion.

Zoetis, the leading animal health company, has announced its intentions to acquire Abaxis for $1.9 billion. The deal is part of Zoetis’ plan to expand in the diagnostics services sector for pets and farm animals.

Asia-Pacific

Moving to Uzbekistan, SkyPower has invested $1.3 billion in photovoltaic solar energy facilities in Uzbekistan, with the funds set to be used to develop new power plants.

Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA)

In Ukraine, Metinvest has issued $1.59 billion eurobond. The issue was in two tranches – $944.5 million notes due 2023 and $647.7 million notes due 2026.

In Saudi Arabia, Saudi British Bank and Alawwal Bank have agreed to merge.

Sivantos and Widex are also planning to merge in a cross-border deal between Denmark and Germany that will create the third largest company in the digital device industry in Germany.
