The South African branch of international firm Baker & McKenzie has announced the appointment of a new head of projects and energy.

Partner Kieran Whyte joins the firm from DLA’s South African partner Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr where he was the head of projects and infrastructure.

The Johannesburg office of the international firm was only established in 2012 and this appointment is just the latest in a series of new hires that has seen it triple its lawyer base in its first three years.

A spokesman for the firm said that the arrival of Whyte – who has more than 25 years’ experience in the field – would significantly boost its on-the-ground projects capability in South Africa.
