Cheah Swee Gim, is a director of Kelvin Chia Yangon and a senior partner of Kelvin Chia Partnership. She has more than 25 years of practice experience and her portfolio of work includes mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate reorganizations and restructurings, private equity funds, banking and financial transactions. In Myanmar, she has extensive experience in a wide range of investment advisory and corporate and commercial work and has an in depth understanding of local laws and regulations and their practical application.

  • Acting for an insurance company in relation to the acquisition of a substantial interest in an existing local insurance business, and assistance with drafting and review of documents, and provision of regulatory advice.
  • Advised, and acted for a Singapore listed company as Myanmar counsels in a reverse takeover exercise involving Myanmar tourism assets involving extensive due diligence across various states and drafting of complex transaction documents and detailed regulatory advice, and issuance of formal legal opinion for purposes of exchange requirements. 
  • Acting for a listed company in its establishment of a substantial commercial real estate project in Myanmar, assistance with investment permit and related applications, and drafting and negotiation of land documents and shareholders agreement and provision of structuring and regulatory advice. 
  • Acted as advisors to a Singapore listed company in its multifaceted investments in various food manufacturing industries in Myanmar involving complex applications for investment permits and approvals and capital structures, and conducting land due diligence and preparing land related documents.
