Sankananji is a Senior Associate in the Banking and Finance Department with 6 years’ experience in a wide range of banking-related advice, including project financing, acquisition finance, structured lending, asset backed lending and mergers and acquisition.

She has actively contributed to significant transactions in banking regulatory compliance and corporate restructuring within the financial sector. Sankananji’s experience also extends to providing specialized guidance to insurance companies on regulatory compliance matters, conducting thorough analyses of insurance policies, assessing associated risks, and providing strategic legal advice tailored to the insurance sector.

She also specialises in a broad spectrum of capital markets transactions, encompassing initial public offerings, debt issuances, and regulatory compliance pertaining to securities laws. Sankananji holds an LLB from the University of Zambia and is a member of the Zambian Bar as an Advocate of the Superior Courts for Zambia. She is also a member of the Law Association of Zambia.

  • Advised Brookfield-led consortium comprised of First Abu Dhabi Bank, Mubadala, ADQ and Olayan acquisition of Middle East and Africa payments business Network International Holdings plc., at a value of GBP 2,787,653,000, representing one of the largest private equity investments the region has ever seen.

  • Advised Camco REPP 2 in connection with a total debt commitment of US$185,000,000 financing to Kwama Energy Limited a Zambian independent power producer developing wind and solar PV projects across Zambia. The financing supports Kwama’s multi-million-dollar equity investment in Ilute Solar Limited, an independent power producer which is developing a 25MW (32MWp) solar photovoltaic project near Sesheke in Zambia’s Western Province.

  • Advised Mercuria Energy Trading SA in connection with a US$75 million financing to Kanona Power Company Limited. The financing introduced an innovative prepayment backed model that allowed a private intermediary to inject liquidity directly into ZESCO at a time when the national utility faced acute cashflow pressures arising from Zambia’s 2024 power challenges.

  • Advised the Eastern and Southern African Trade and Development Bank in connection with the USD200,000,000 financing to Zambia National Commercial Bank Plc to facilitate it’s participation in the US$550 million Ministry of Finance syndicated facility being sought from local commercial banks to settle Zambia’s domestic fuel arrears which arose from the scrapped government subsidy program

  • Advised First Quantum Minerals Ltd. and its Zambian subsidiary in connection with the USD1.5 Billion offering of Senior Notes due in 2036. First Quantum Minerals Ltd. is a leading international mining and metals company engaged primarily in exploration, mine development and the production of copper, gold, zinc and nickel.
