Mohamed Alem is the founder and senior partner of Alem & Associates, a leading 60+ lawyers Beirut based regional law firm with offices in Riyadh, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi. Mohamed focuses his practice on complex commercial, financial and investment cross-border advisory work. He is also a recognized international arbitrator and counsel in transnational disputes and leads the firm’s regional dispute resolution practice involving local litigation and international arbitration.

Mohamed has advised Governments in Lebanon and the region on a large number of legal reforms be it in energy, banking & finance, transport, telecommunication, public procurement, e-government, capital markets, corporate governance and transparency. He is also a recognized expert in public private partnership deal structuring.

  • Advised a group representing the majority shareholders regarding their exit from a company investing in agriculture projects in Lebanon and abroad. The transaction accounted to US$ 70 million.
  • Advised a client regarding the purchase of a dept accounting to US$ 46 million owned by a company in the real estate field to a fund managed by a Lebanese Financial Institution. The transaction involved Lebanese, British Virgin Islands and Cayman entities.
  • Advised a client, acting as Sponsor and Placement agent, regarding a US$ 17 million transaction involving offer of debt notes for debt restructuring and investment purposes.
  • Advised a client with regards to corporate restructuring and debt settlement for an amount of US$ 20 million. Challenging transaction in view of the currency fluctuations and de facto capital control in Lebanon.
