Sandro Abegglen advises leading Swiss and international banks, asset managers, broker-dealers, fund providers, investment foundations, insurers/reinsurers and institutional investors on a broad variety of regulatory, civil law and other critical laws, such and blocking statutes and KYC/AML regulations. He has a leading role in advising on upcoming new financial services regulations, such as the Swiss Financial Services Act (FIDLEG) and the Swiss Financial Institutions Act (FINIG).

  • Represented a Swiss bank in a complex regulatory enforcement proceeding of FINMA, the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority 
  • Led the team in a USD 500 million international litigation as counsel to major bank (defendant) 
  • Advised on structuring and required regulatory licenses for forming a bank subsidiary and bank branch in Switzerland, and on the change of control in a Swiss incorporated bank 
  • Led the team conducting an internal investigation for a bank on non-permitted transactions 
  • Advised on the setting up and licensing of one of the largest asset manager in the insurance linked investment expertise area
