Nelson Raposo Bernardo

Nelson Raposo Bernardo is the global managing partner of Raposo Bernardo.

He advises national and multinational leading players in operations concerning debt, equity, structured finance and securitisation, M&A, energy and infrastructure, project development, project finance, private equity, restructuring and regulation.

He is also strongly experienced and reputed in legislating, being co-author of the present Portuguese Securities Code and has led several legislative reform committees, in several countries, in banking, financial, real estate and construction areas. He has published books and articles on corporate law, banking and contract law, and participated as a speaker in seminars and conferences in Portugal and abroad.

• Advised in a $500 million RMB credit line project for the Design and Construction contract on Mocamedes Railway;

• Legal advice in negotiation to the refinancing of Construction Group amounting to €250 million;

• Advised in a new Airport Infrastructure project finance amounting to hundreds of million euro;

• Legal support to all steps for implementation of Solar Photovoltaic Park project in PPP model involving the acquisition and exploration of 117 Photovoltaic Power Plants in a single process;

• Advisory in a change of control operation which included the assignment of the exploration license and the development concession for Oil Blocks.

He holds a degree in Law from the Law School of the University of Lisbon, a Masters in Juridical Sciences (Corporate Law) from the same school, where is he is also presently working on his doctorate in Corporate Law. Assistant Professor of Corporate and Commercial Law at Law School of the University of Lisbon (1991-2006) and in Entrepreneurship and Family Enterprise Start-Up and Management courses at INDEG/ISCTE (Audax) (2005-present), one of the best reputed business schools in Portugal.
