Mr. Olaya is considered as a leading lawyer by the main global legal guides (band 1 for Chambers & Partners, Hall of fame for The Legal 500, market leader for IFLR 1000). According to his peers and clients he is a reference at the M&A Peruvian legal market. He has been involved in the most significant transactions closed in Peru in several industries in recent years and has carried out outbound transactions in Mexico, Brazil, Central America, Poland, Portugal and Spain. According to TTR Data, a prestigious platform specialized in tracking M&A transactions in Latin America, Mr. Olaya holds as dealmaker the largest number of deals closed in Peru, Colombia, Argentina, Chile and Mexico in recent years. Mr. Olaya is a member of the board of directors of well-known companies in different sectors (manufacturing, agroindustry, fishing, transportation, among others). Contributor at El Comercio and Gestión, the most important newspapers in Peru, and Semana Económica, a magazine focused on economic and business issues. He’s a regular speaker in conferences and workshops focused on compliance, corporate governance, ESG, among other issues.

During 2023, as head of the M&A practice, three deals carried out by the firm were considered by TTR as “deal of the quarter” in Peru. The acquisition of Transoceanica (maritime services) Holding by a group of individual investors (Q1); the acquisition of Krista Films from Mexico by Oben Holding Group, the largest manufacturer of film production for flexible packaging throughout the Americas (Q1) and the acquisition of Sociedad Agrícola Agrokasa , one of the largest grower-exporters of avocados, table grapes, blueberries and asparagus in Peru to Hame Group, a leading group in Latin America in the production and export of sustainable palm oil, from Guatemala (Q3). As well, in 2024, a deal closed by the firm, the acquisition of Avoamerica Peru by Unifrutti, a global leader in premium fresh fruit, was awarded as deal of the first quarter of the year by TTR.
