Jesseline Tiopan began her career as a lawyer at UMBRA - Strategic Legal Solutions in 2019. She has represented a diverse range of clients, including local and foreign banks, insurance companies, payment system providers, start-ups, and other financial institutions, in complex project finance, restructuring, and merger and acquisition transactions. Her day-to-day responsibilities include negotiating with opposing counsel, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, drafting and reviewing transaction documents, and providing legal advice. Many of the transactions she has handled have received awards from prestigious international agencies.

  • Representing PT Bank Syariah Indonesia, Tbk (BSI), the largest syariah bank in Indonesia, in providing an IDR750,000,000,000 / USD50,473,275,00 facility under the Islamic banking Musyarakah structure, to PT Medco Power Indonesia, in relation to the financing of its renewable energy project. “IFN Project & Infrastructure Finance Law Firm of the Year – 2022”.
  • Assisting an international development agency in providing advisory for the financing of Ijen geothermal power plant development in Ijen, East Java. Our role includes providing legal advice to the lender, conducting due diligence of the borrower, and preparing the financing documents.
  • Representing Loka Holdings and its affiliates in obtaining USD300,000,000 in financing, provided by a syndication of prominent foreign and local financial institutions, including INA, BlackRock
  • Assisting PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur in the financing of Banyang Nyalo Mini Hydro Power Plant located in West Sumatera (2 x 3MW) located in West Sumatera.
  • Represent PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) in the USD70 million financing of 55 MW Ijen Geothermal Power Plant in East Java, Indonesia. This is the first utility-scale geothermal project funded by an Indonesian bank. Our work includes preparing and negotiating the transaction documents with APLMA-standard facility agreement and a complex security package. This deal won UMBRA “ABLJ Energy & Natural Resources Law Firm of the Year - 2024” award (2024).
