Financial and corporate
Carlsmith Ball

Founded in 1857, Carlsmith Ball represented Hawaii’s earliest condominium projects, and it also welcomed the state’s first woman lawyer. Since its foundation in Hilo, the firm has branched out across Hawaii with offices in Honolulu, Maui and Kona and it has grown with over 60 attorneys. In addition, the law firm has an office in Los Angeles.

The firm stands out for its merger and acquisition practice, particularly for corporations looking to expand into Hawaii and the Pacific Rim. In addition, the firm is active in real estate.

The bilingual capacity of some of the firm’s attorney has helped to create a dedicated Greater China practice group that advises Chinese investors. Over the research period, the firm launched an environmental practice group, which focuses on environmental issues in the Pacific region.
