The multinational professional services firm KPMG has been present in Azerbaijan since 1998. It has operated a full-service office in Baku since 2011. The firm’s Azerbaijan presence now has more than 130 employees of which 20 professionals have long-term experience of legal services in different industry sectors of Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey, Georgia, Kazakhstan and other countries.
The firm is visible across several areas within the financial and corporate space including banking, M&A, financial services regulatory and restructuring.
Highlights
The firm was appointed as legal adviser to COP 29 Azerbaijan Operating Company in December 2024, among other things advising on the Host Country Agreement and handling a range of corporate and commercial matters relating to the company's establishment and commercial agreements.
The firm also advised Philip Morris International on its establishment in Azerbaijan and continued to act as the company's dat to day counsel for any operational legal matters in the country.
