KLC Law Firm was established in 2000 in Athens through the merger of three law firms.

 

Focusses / specialisms 

The firm has a particularly strong record of project finance deals and its particularly active in energy, renewables sectors and in infrastructure development projects. It also has been advising local and foreign clients in banking and finance as well as in corporate and M&A.

It has demonstrated a prolific record of work with institutional investors such as European Investment Bank, EBRD and local government investment funds such as Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund and more.  

 

Key clients 

Among its banking clients are DBRS Morningstar, European Investment Bank, Greek Ministry of Finance’s Recovery and Resilience Fund, Hellenic Financial Stability Fund, Hellenic Bank and National Energy Holdings Limited. The list also includes SRH Marine Electronics, AXPO Group, Pieralisi Group and HRADF.

The banking and finance team has an equally prolific record of transactional work and regulatory work. The transactional work of the team consists of advising lenders on acquisition financing, project financing and refinancing. The team provided regulatory advice and support in a broad range of issues, including contingent convertible bonds and arising corporate issues, fund activity and RRF funds formation, EU financial instruments implementation, due diligence of NPLs, and NPL-backed securitization issues and banking compliance. Its clients are mostly banks, investment funds and financial institutions.

The corporate and M&A team worked on behalf of the sell side and the acquisition side on acquisitions in various industries, including shipping, traditional energy and the electricity sectors, in particular, hospitality and, most notably, the renewable energy sector.

In project development the firm advised mostly investors and also developers on concessions, asset privatization, land acquisition, and projects in the energy sector. The firm’s work includes traditional energy infrastructure and renewable energy constructions.
