Recent matters advised on

  • Review of the Zanzibar Energy Policy and legislative drafting of the Energy Act for the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar;
  • Appointed as the lead counsel to the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania through the Tanzania Investment Centre to advise on one of the largest port and special economic zone projects in East Africa with an expected investment of US$10 billion
  • Appointed as external counsel to the Federal Republic of Somalia with respect to the provision of legal advisory services related to the Somalia Production Sharing Agreement Toolkit Project. 
  • Advised Ferrostaal Industrial Projects GMBH, Haldor Topsoe A/S and Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited on the establishment of a USD 2 billion ammonia/urea fertilizer plant with national gas as feedstock.   
  • Advised Berkley energy and Sinotan Tanzania Limited on a 100 MW wind power project in the Tanzania highlands in Iringa as lead counsel. He assised in negotiations in power purchase agreement, restructuring of the local company as an investment vehicle and advising on the legal aspects of financing for the project.
