Research period review: 32nd edition (2021/2022)

The firm maintained activity in banking, capital markets, M&A and projects practice areas.

The banking team advised on project financing and general corporate financing on both the borrower and issuer side. The industries the firm participated in varied.

The capital market team’s activity was uniform this year with the debt team exclusively advising issuers in debenture issues, mainly in the financing services and energy industries. The equity team advised on multiple security and fund formation primarily in banking, financial services energy, and technology. The firm worked mainly with underwriters and obligors. The team also advised investment funds on fund formations.

The M&A team was busier with banking than any other sector. The highlighted transactions include many private acquisitions and fund formations on the acquirer and target side.

The firm was heavily active in energy, oil and gas and mining, working on the finance side as well as the development side.  The team advised bidders, managers and concessionaires in PPPs, PFIs and financing.

In July of 2021 banking partner Helen Naves departed the firm to start her own practice. The team also welcomed 4 new partners over the research period.  David Meiler and Bárbara Bittencourt both joined the Oil & Gas team from Campos Mello Advogados in October 2021.  Rosi Costa Barros was a recruit from Neiva, Barros & Figuieró Advogados that joined the Energy team in March 2021 and Tomás Paiva joined the Telecom team from Mundie Advogados in February 2022.
