Bortnychi sewage treatment plant modernisation

Overview:

• Ukraine is undertaking a project to modernise the sewage treatment facilities which serve Kyiv, the Bortnychi sewage treatment plant. 
• The Government of Ukraine secured a ¥108.2 billion ODA (official development assistance) financing from Japan to fund the redevelopment of Bortnychi. 
• The loan, which has a term of 40 years, was provided through Japanese state-controlled entity, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
• Completion of project is scheduled for September 2022.
