TPG/Goldman Sachs €785 million acquisition of Caixabank mortgage portfolio

Overview:

• TPG and Goldman Sachs have acquired a residential mortgage loan portfolio and an unsecured loan portfolio from Caixabank for €785 million. 
• Project Atalaya, a portfolio of credit to unpaid promoters who acquired Caixabank, was one of the most important debt operations of 2015.
• The Catalan entity Caixabank in total—as a result of other operations—succeeded in transferring almost €2,300 million of debt from its balance sheet during the second half of the year alone, a figure that makes it the most active entity during the period for this type of operation.
