CGN Europe Energy €500 million acquisition of 228MW wind farm portfolio

Overview:

• China General Nuclear Power Europe Energy (CGN EE) has acquired a portfolio of 14 onshore wind farms in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland from Gaelectric Holdings and Lanber Holdings.
• The farms have a combined power of 228MW.
• The deal represents the first Chinese investment into the Irish energy sector
• CGN EE is the European subsidiary of China's state owned nuclear power company and the move is part of its strategy of diversifying its portfolio.
