Overview:

  • Irish-domiciled companies Willis Towers Watson and Aon will merge to form the world's largest global insurance broker, in a transaction with an equity value of $80 billion. 
  • Willis Towers Watson shareholders will receive 1.08 Aon shares for each Willis Towers Watson share. Following the combination, Aon shareholders will own 63% with Willis Towers Watson shareholders owning 37%.
  • On 2 April, Aon Ireland became the publicly traded parent company of the Aon Group, to prepare for the merger, though main operations continue from the London office.
