GIC Rs44 billion investment in IRB Infrastructure Developers' road platform

Overview:

• Sovereign wealth fund GIC has invested Rs44 billion in nine build operate transfer (BOT) assets of road developer IRB Infrastructure Developers' road assets.
• IRB will transfer the assets to a private infrastructure investment trust (InvIT), of which it will hold a 51% stake.
• This marks the largest investment in India's road and highways sector to date.
