Overview:

  • Hewlett-Packard (HP) has formed a strategic partnership with Tsinghua University to establish a joint venture in mainland China.
  • Tsinghua's subsidiary, Unisplendour, purchased a 51% stake of HP's server business based in Mainland China, for $2.3 billion. The partnership is creating a new business called H3C Technologies worth $4.5 billion to become a leader in the computer servers, storage and technology services business in China. 
  • HP, one of the largest producers of personal computers, has been seeking to reorganise its firm to cope with the trend moving from traditional PCs to mobile devices.
