Microchip Technology $3.6 billion acquisition of Atmel

Overview:

• Microchip Technology has completed its $3.6 billion acquisition of semiconductor manufacturer Atmel.
• Microchip outbid competitor Dialog Semiconductor for Atmel.
• The transaction included the merger of a Microchip Bermuda-based subsidiary with an Atmel Caymans-based subsidiary.
• JP Morgan Securities acted as financial adviser for Microchip and Qatalyst Partners acted for Atmel. 
• The deal was first announced in January 2016.
